A Journey of Strength, Determination, and Success
Hello, I am Niharika Reddy. I lost my mom when I was barely 3 months old, and my father deserted me. I know the value of love and compassion, as I missed them dearly as a child. I know how tough it is for a child without parental support, as I have personally experienced the travails.
My Pedda Amma (mother’s sister, whom I call and treat as Amma) brought me up along with her kids. My journey was not easy, though I received the love of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Due to some family issues, I was left alone at the age of 16 without any support. It was the darkest phase of my life.
However, life made me walk towards the light inch by inch through many jerks and bumps. With the help of a few friends, I took a bus to Hyderabad to seek help from some movie celebrities to continue my education. A few helped me secure a job in a call center and later as a freelance journalist. This exposure led me to join as an assistant director with the famous movie director Teja.
During my stint with him, I met DS Kannan, who is a scriptwriter/director. To my shock, he proposed to me, and the rest followed. A wedding with Kannan, kids by the age of 20, and determination to finish my studies ultimately landed me at Hamstech, a fashion design institute. After graduating from Hamstech in fashion design, I set up my own boutique under the name Niharika Fashion Design Studio.
Today, I am a fashion designer as well as the founder of Niharika Foundation. I feel proud of my journey.
Empowering Through Action
Apart from regular business schedules, I take time to participate and associate with many social causes and CSR initiatives like - Women Energy, Hyderabad Directors / CEO Forum, Walk for Water Foundation, Say No to Drugs by Kalamandir Foundation, No Plastics Campaign by GHMC, Anti Speeding Campaign by Hyderabad Traffic Police, Anti Child Labor by Labour Department, Igniting Minds, WOW Foundation, etc.
Today, as a styling and designing expert, I mentor many aspiring models and actresses. As a woman entrepreneur, I create livelihood opportunities for many artisans. As a social activist, I work towards bringing positive change in the society. During the pandemic times, we took initiative to cook and send food for almost 1000 people a day, and that inspired many to follow the same. Later that shaped me to start ‘Niharika Foundation’, that helps many to attain their livelihood.
I strongly believe that every woman must see an opportunity in every obstacle to unshackle barriers to move up in professional and personal life. If you stop and stare at hardships, you only get confused and dejected. If you dare to step ahead across bottlenecks, you become the source of inspiration for others to emulate.
